Top 10 Raptor Stories Of The 07/08 Season:
- T.J vs Jose: Who was better, Who should start. It started as the Raptors greatest strength and now most people think you can’t have both. I still think you can but I am in the minority.
- The New And Improved CB4: Utube All Star Videos, Blane Harrington, battling injuries, Calling Out the Fans, Having Your Girlfriend compared to Jessica Simpson it all happened to Chris this year. He is much more open and out there and I think has made great leaps on and off the floor this season
- The Atlanta Hawks: Ok are you confused? T.J Ford injury happens against the Hawks, Jose Calderon gets elbowed in the back of the head. The Basket that never counted AGAIN. This team made people say loud that Raptors needed to get tougher.
- Jamario Moon: Who saw this coming. If you said you did I respectful tell you that your an untruth teller sir. I will say this though it was clear from first game I saw him in Europe in the Exhibition games I was like WOW that guy has HOPS. I still say it. But a starter in a record number of games? WOW. Jamario is living the dream and his humble and smart enough to realize that.
- DE-FENCE: It was there at points and it was awful at times. It is #5 on this list but #1 on the list of things Raptors need to advance in the Playoffs. Believe that.
- Garbogate: No Jorge Garbahosa for the entire season and a pending lawsuit between the Raptors and Spain Basketball. It all is an ugly issue that all could have been avoided if Jorge had just listened to Raptor Medical Staff.
- Bargnani Bust?: For others making lists of this nature it could be as high as #1. I would not argue the point. When you take a guy with that number one pick you need him to do well. Flashes of brillance is not good enough. A summer with John Lucas hopefully can restore Andrea Bargnani and a good playoff performance would be a good jump start.
- Colangelo’s Moves: He had a great first full seeason in Toronto so good he was deemed the best in the NBA for a 2nd time. This season was not as good for Bryan Colangelo as far as the moves he made. But in fairness Bryan’s plan is set up for such misreads and next season he has the chance to make some big changes thanks to the way he has set up this team.
- Jose Contract How Much Has He Earned: This was a break out year for Jose Calderon. If i didn’t know the type of person Jose is, I would say the typical season for a guy in a contract year. But Jose has proven he is a team player but all that being said no one can deny he is going to get a huge raise. Is it a raise that makes T.J Ford to exspensive to stay. Some say yes and that is at the core of topic number 1 on this list.
- Joey Is Still Here Why?: It has been a question I have asked for awhile. It is clear that Sam Mitchell has not seen enough to feel confident in using Joey Graham in any role on this team other then emergency pilot on the team flight. I think when all is said and done Joey will be flying his way out of Toronto. The writing is on the wall.
There could be other things but I see these as the major topics from the past season. For myself personally it has been a really cool experience writing a blog all season. It has helped me connect with many people that I otherwise would not have meet in life. Not because you are not all good people just because this blog has got hits from all over the world. England, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Japan as well as all over Canada. It has helped me appreicate the true global reach of the Internet. There have been bumps along the road. But I have enjoyed this experience a heck of a lot. It was almost like my reward yesterday to have had the chance to chat basketball with Jack Armstrong not only for myself but on behalf of all of you that read this. I want to thank Jack once again for doing that. In fact I thank many of the people that cover this team that have all been helpful to me and supportive of my effort to cover the team on a smaller stage then they do. It would be very easy to blow me off but they don’t. That is why I provide links to what they do because they help me so I want to help them. I hope you all have enjoyed reading this blog this season as much as I have bringing it to you each day. I really only have one thing I would like to see more of. Comments, Good Ones, Bad ones, They all help me do a better job at this. So when you feel you have something to say leave a comment on the blog. Hopefully some people take me up on that.
