Toronto Raptors Select….Roy Hibbert Georgtown. It Could Happen.

The Western Conference is going to take some more thought so I am leaving that till tomorrow. Besides there are a couple of other things worth talking about today. I am proud to say the effort of people on behalf of Jack Armstrong seem to be helping. A store in the Toronto Star today suggest the return of Jack is taking a turn in a good direction. I do not know if you folks are aware of Gord Kirk. If you are a Toronto Maple Leaf fan you likely are as he is part of the search team they have put together to find a new General Manager. Kirk also makes appearances on the popular show on the Fan 590 Prime Time Sports. It seems Mr.Kirk has taken up the cause of Jack Armstrong and will be representing him in getting him a new contract to stay with the Toronto Raptors. Kirk is a well respected lawyer who has represented many high profile clients. Eric Lindros and Bret “The Hitman” Hart are among the many he has represented. I am confident that he will do an excellent job on Jack’s behalf and feel very confident his return next season is now likely. I take pride in being a small part of the tremendous show of support on behalf of Jack. It is nice to see a story where the media and fans work together to make a good thing happen. Another thing I came across was an article written by Scoop Jackson of ESPN. He is a frequent guest on the Chuck Swirsky show on the Fan 590. On a side note I need to get the Fan as a sponsor of this blog. I sure give them enough free publicity. I won’t hold my breath on that. I do enjoy many of the things they put on the air though. But back to the point of Jackson, who wrote a feature article on the point guard duo of T.J Ford and Jose Calderon. I thought it was a good read and it is nice to get some perspective from an outsider. I sometimes feel like I live in the eye of the hurricane. I am open with my support of Ford and will not be saying sorry for that fact. Dave Feschuck and James Deacon have wrote articles that are close to personal attacks of Ford. Feschuck is a basketball writer primarily and he also the rocket scientist that wrote an article that told Chris Bosh to shut up and play. He calls T.J Ford “ME.J” I mean this guy makes it his mission to stir the pot and make trouble and advance himself through it. Deacon is far from a basketball writer and his article on AOL suggested T.J Ford “Grow Up”. I have a suggestion for him stick to what you know. I am not sure what that is exactly I hear him talking hockey mostly so stick to that. Jackson is not in a spot to need to choose sides and shows in his article the true unique nature of what is happening here in Toronto. Click here to read what is a solid job telling a great story that is not told much here anymore. Scoop Jackson Gets It so read him.
I found myself doing what I have suggested fans shouldn’t be doing. I starting looking to the NBA draft. I wanted to see the chances of the Raptors landing Roy Hibbert of Georgetown. Looks like if Raptors agree with me they can draft the 7 ft 2 273 pound legit center. He is a senior and I think despite a under expectations senior year at Georgetown he has the skills to develop into that Center of the future for Toronto. If you want to do your home work on Roy Hibert I found a great link with tons on info. I am going to be looking at other players people think might get selected by the Raptors. Just a quick view around all the mock drafts it seems there is no clear choice for the Raptors. But for now here is some great info on Roy Hibbert.
Raptors are now in the air or on the landing strip in Orlando by now. Sunday afternoon it all gets started. A valid point was made on Hoops last night, who plays more 12:30pm or 1 pm starts in the NBA? Toronto Raptors. They need to take advantage of that and get out of the gates fast in game one. this has not always been the case this year but it is a must to get things rolling in game 1. Jack Armstrong when we talked and I agree Raptors must get 1 of these 2 games to win this series. Game 1 will be easier to get then game 2. But with the start time advantage and the pressure of expectation squarely on the Magic it really is a great chance for the Raptors to get off on the right foot. The left handed CB4 will be a big part of that happening. I like hearing Bosh saying he was upset by his performance last season in the playoffs. I think he wants to break out this season. He was on ABC last weekend and was the best player on the floor. This Sunday afternoon on TNT he will once again need to be that best player on the floor again. Tomorrow I will make my Western Conference Picks. Maybe late tonight If I am able too. Till whenever that is hope your weather is as nice as it is here at Dino Nation Blog Central here in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
