Sorry Kobe …Congrats… It Was Chuck’s Fault
Kobe Is Back On Top Of The World
Here in Raptor land we were busy saying bye to Chuck Swirsky. It wasn’t that you scored 81 points against us that the Dino Nation forgot to say congrats on winning the M.V.P. We are not a bitter group of people. It wasn’t the fact that you demanded a trade at the beginning of the season. It had nothing to do with that unfortunate problem you had in Colorado. Shaq didn’t ask us not to ether. We just like Chuck more than you. Maybe actually it is because you give Cabbie such a hard time too. I mean haven’t you heard we are nice people in this country Kobe. We honestly are happy for you and congrats on your First M.V.P Trophy.
Obviously the Dino Nation Blogger does not get a ballot for NBA Awards. If I had sorry to tell Kobe my vote would have gone to Chris Paul. I am sorry but I personally can’t get past the fact Kobe wanted out. He stayed and played tremendously. I just figure if all things are equal to me, I will go with the guy that is out in his community and happy to do so. Chris Paul has been one of the people that have been doing what they can to restore New Orleans spirit. I think by the things I have written you can tell that character counts to me. So if the basketball is a wash I will choose the better person and that to me is Chris Paul.
That all being said it seems clear that Kobe Bryant is back. He has rebuild his image after the whole Shaq trade and sex scandal in Colorado. This is an award that is almost a story of that reconstruction of Kobe Bryant. The number 8 version of Kobe Bryant never won an M.V.P, while the man that wears 24 did. The number change is no real factor but it does kind of show the fact that even Bryant himself figured out he needed to change. He changed the way he approached the game and learned to trust his team. Bryant himself said that if not for his team he never would have been able to win it. This is acknowledgement that Kobe has matured as a basketball player.
He also seems to have off the floor as well. The facts of what really happened in Colorado may never be completely known. But we do know at least that Kobe at the very least cheated on his wife. But Bryant now is the picture of a family man. He even had one of his kids in toe as he accepted his award at the press conference. If you were sceptical of this squeaky clean Kobe, I personally would not blame you. But if you take things at face value it seems he has restored his image and his family.
After the events in Colorado most sponsors dropped Kobe Bryant fast as they could. The lone one that stuck with Kobe was Nike. But now the M.V.P has started to attract back corporate America. Sony is now on team Kobe and Coke too. It would seem that this is the final piece of the puzzle to the return Kobe Bryant to the top of the basketball world. It has been a long climb back for Kobe Bryant. The player on the floor has always been a remarkable talent. The young man that came straight out of high school is now a full grown man that has become that with the world watching his ever move. Many jumped at the chance to throw mud when he hit rock bottom in Colorado courtrooms. But he has taken it all. From being the bad guy in the Kobe vs Shaq soap opera, to getting booed on opening night at Staples Center based on his trade demands.
It is fitting story for the team that is the meeting place for Hollywood’s A list. The Kobe Bryant story will make a heck of a movie some day. This would be a huge moment in that film. Kobe has come back and won back fans, media and come out on the other side stronger and better. It is an amazing tale. Terrell Owens line applies here, I will have my popcorn ready to watch the Kobe Bryant Story some day.
Round The NBA PLAYOFFS
- Spurs are getting everything and more from Chris Paul and his young Hornets
- Magic have new life…Howard is better and Billups is Out…Upset senerio is front of them
- Kobe and his Lakers have been WAY TOO much for the Jazz
- King James looked like Court Jester in Game 1 and Boston only won by 4. That would not make me feel good if I was Celtic Fan
Raptor Front
Jose wants to play. Not just play but start. Is this lost in translation or is it the final nail in T.J Ford’s Raptor Career. Let the speculation begin. This is what happens when Athletes BLOG. Leave that to folks like me we need the readers. But on the other hand look at the content we get from Athlete blogs in cyber space. I will think that one over. I have mentioned who my selection to replace Chuck would be. Mark Jones….You may know his brother Paul Raptor Radio play by play. Brothers Jones covering all bases. Mark actually started his T.V Career on TSN and was excellent. So much so that his time on TSN was brief and he was hired by ABC in the states. You can now find him on ESPN and ABC. He was the broadcaster for the game vs the Pistons that was broadcast nationally in the United States late in regular season. He was working with ex-NBA coach Hubie Brown. I could easily see Jack Armstrong in Hubie’s chair. This may not happen as I am sure the brother of Paul Jones is making a pretty sizable dollar to work for the boys in Bristol.
