Jose Calderon In The News… Canada Too

By James Borbath AKA The Dino Blogger

He(Calderon) was talking in Spain about his basketball future. He seems determined to try to force the Raptors hand as far as T.J Ford is concerned. He even hinted at the fact that Ford and himself may not be able to play on the same team any longer. Bryan Colangelo can not be pleased about any of these developments. It is becoming a very tough problem to deal with and the Raptors being able to put out the fires and keep both point guards is starting to look more and more impossible. I have stood almost alone in my belief that both will return. I am starting to think that the people involved are not in any mood to make that happen. Bryan Colangelo is stuck in the middle of all of this. Which ever option he decides to go with if this becomes an a or b thing will be subject to a mixed reaction at best. Many want Ford out of town but as I have tried to explain his value is at an all time low and will not yield what people are expecting. If you trade Calderon the fan base will be unhappy as they feel he is the better of the two point guards. It really is a bad place for Colangelo to be.

This also has lead to a rumour that I told you would come and now has. Corey Maggette to Toronto for Calderon is now starting to make it’s way to the rumour mill. This is based on nothing but a knowledge that Raptors were after Maggette quite hard at last year’s deadline. Maggette has always had one foot out the door in L.A for years now. Calderon would be needed in L.A to replace the fallen young star Shaun Livingston who has his career in a lot of jeopardy after his very ugly and serious knee injury. Now based on the latest round of news this rumour will gather a lot more steam and if Raptors are doing this deal it should happen prior to the draft because I can not imagine them doing it without at the very least a swap of first round picks. But what will happen is becoming a big guessing game and a bit of a soap opera.

Turning to something of a more positive nature. Team Canada will be playing some basketball here in Southern Ontario before departing for the last chance qualifier to advance to the games in China. Two of the games will be right in my own backyard and I want to try to cover them and get you fine folks some info. You can help in that effort as well. In fact if you live in the area you can go check it out for yourself and support Canada Basketball.

Canada’s National Men’s Basketball Team has Games that will be played in Hamilton, Ontario (Dino Blogger’s Hometown) at McMaster University and in Toronto at Ricoh Coliseum. Canada’s schedule is as follows:

June 30 – Lebanon (@ McMaster)
July 1 – New Zealand (@ McMaster)
July 4 – New Zealand (@ Ricoh)
July 5 – Lebanon (@ Ricoh)

I really would like to cover these games in Hamilton I am doing my best to try and make that happen. If you folks would like to help please contact Canada Basketball and let them know you read the Dino Nation Blog and you would like the blog to have access to these events. I think it could be something good for you my readers and myself. Go Canada and Go Dino Nation Blog. So send you comments to Canada Basketball.

I don’t think I have ever asked readers to do anything or help out before. This however I think is something that could benefit myself and in turn will benefit all of you. I work hard to get you folks as much info as I am able too. Sometimes it is hard to get people to take you seriously but the more people that do the better it is for everyone that is part of this Dino Nation Blog. So if you can donate a few minutes of your time hopefully it will help us get some respect. I respect all of you and want to do a good job for all of you and this is part of doing that.

I wanted to publicly thank Adam (NEVER LEFT LAST NAME) I had made an error by posting the Tiger Woods/Jose Lawsuit thing. I had always thought it was a joke and today someone showed me an article and I skimmed through wrote my own bit on it and did not make it CLEAR that is was an elbrate satire. I realized this when Adam wrote his comment it caused me to read the article closer along with what I wrote. I have decided to just pull the whole Tiger Woods/ Jose part as a result. I will say it is a stupid story to even put out there cause many could have made same error based on what I did and glance at it and take it as real. My writing on it continued to make it seem real and to avoid any misunderstanding I just deleted it.

So Thanks To Adam and Sorry for Any Harm done. I do my best but we all have are bad days.

Calderon did not say he could not play with TJ Ford. He said that he did not know if he could play with him as a back-up, because he wants to start (which is natural after his experience last yr) and does not know what the Raptors plans are re TJ, where he will play, if he gets other offers, or the Rap’s match, untill July 1. He is officially in NBA limbo untill July 1 so any comments he makes are also directed to the NBA in general, eg: he wants to win, be in playoffs 2nd round at least, win a championship. Losers need not apply.

Is that not really the same thing? Point is he is giving a greater impression of unrest between the 2 point guards and making Colangelo’s job more of a challenge.
