Artest has recently changed his opinion on his opt out. It really is the right move for him as he feels he can earn more money beyond a mid level contract. I remember Richard Jefferson, there was big karma. In game 1 he mocked us like you said, but then in game 2, he got knocked down by us and everyone laughed and cheered.
