Raptors To Sign Will Solomon.
According to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star, the Toronto Raptors are on the verge of signing Will Solomon. This would likely mean that John Lucas is not going to be part of the Raptor Roster. Solomon comes to the Raptors from the Euro League and Turkish Basketball League. He is a 6 foot 2 combo guard and should now fill out the Toronto Raptors roster for the 08-09 season. The Raptors are pushed up against the Luxary Tax Cap and have always been said to be looking at having a 13 man roster for the upcoming season. That is the league Mininum even though the Raptors could carry up to 15 players which is the Max.
Raptors Website also is reporting this so it looks like it is as good as a done deal.
I also looked up Solomon on Wikipedia. So it has some info on him for those interested in learning more on the newest Raptor:
Doug Smith said there is still paperwork to be completed and Solomon in info I found is suppose to have a contract with his team in Europe through the 2008-2009 season.
Perhaps there is a buyout or clause that allows him to get out of the deal to head to the NBA. I really have no idea on that. But Smith says that this deal could be done as early as today. So Raptor roster appears to be set for the upcoming season unless something else happens in form of a trade.

Judging by his yellow and blue unis, he played at Maccabi Tel Aviv (+Elite) as well. So he therefore must have emotional connections to Anthony Parker, making him want to play in Toronto for just pennies. He is our miracle fluke 2-guard for this season. Who knows how much he will contribute?

Well being a guy from the states I think playing in the NBA always matters to guys that have been forced into going to Europe. Ultimately if things go well and Ukic works out he is not going to be a big part of the puzzle. But we will see, I myself am hear a variety of opinions on him even some comparisons to Mike James. But can he sing I believe I can Fly? I guess we will find out.
