When you look at the Quarter Finals the best Match-up is a battle of Raptor Point Guards, Roko Ukic and Jose Calderon. Calderon has played for the most part below expectations in the Round Robin part of the tournament. Roko has played fairly well for Croatia. Spain should win this game team against team but if they take Croatia lightly an upset could happen. But Spain should have the depth and talent to win this game 9 out of 10 times.
Argentina has the hard road to a gold medal based on a loss on the opening day. But if they start to think ahead to how they can beat the United States they may end up losing to Greece. Greece always seems to find ways to make upsets happen in international play and they were destroyed by the Americans and would like a second chance to restore some pride and have a chance at a medal.
Lithuania until they were thrashed by Australia had looked very impressive. They did have nothing to play for so the loss to Australia may not mean much. But going against Yao Ming and all of China behind him will be a hard task as opposed to the average 1 vs 4 match-up. A win for China would at least give China a chance to play for a medal on their home court. That would be something that would be a huge success for China.
Australia is the under dog facing the United States. It would be the biggest upset of all time or rank right up there. The United States had it’s toughest challenge in the lead up to the Olympics from Australia so do not expect the Americans to forget that fact. The U.S will not take anything for granted in this game. But getting to this point for Australia is a good accomplishment and they will be even better in 2012 when they add a guy like Nathan Jawai to the mix.
