God Bless New Orleans and The Hornets

By James Borbath AKA The Dino Blogger

Today I just could not write about anything from a basketball perspective. I am deeply concerned and fearful for the people of New Orleans. Almost 3 years after the city was destroyed by a hurricane the same thing may be about to happen. The NBA has done a lot of great work through NBA CARES in helping try to restore and rebuild New Orleans. The Hornets as an organization just returned back to New Orleans full-time this past season. They have been leaders out in the New Orleans community doing what they can to restore faith and hope for the community they call home.

That is what makes the events of this latest hurricane Gustav that threatens them now all the more sad. I can not express how deeply sad it makes me to see this happening to these people again. The unfortunate reality may mean this team can not stay in New Orleans if this latest hurricane makes more people decide to leave New Orleans. Who could blame people for making that choice at this point. It is one thing to have to rebuild your life once. It is quite another to have to do it a second time.

But what lies ahead basketball wise or sports wise is a far second to what this will mean for this city and these people. I encourage anyone that has the means to do so to help these people in anyway that they can. If there becomes ways to do that in the coming days I will try to make you aware of them.

I ask you all to pray in whatever faith you follow for the people of New Orleans and the gulf coast region of the United States. These people have suffered through far to much than the average person should have too.
